Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description:

Responsibilities

1.    Uses a 3D CAD software system to design and develop 3D models and drawings based on customer requests.
2.    Supports the new business quoting process by providing Product Engineers with information regarding size, volume, weight, and quantities needed to produce the requested part.
3.    Communicates with internal and external customers to resolve product development concerns or issues.
4.    Participates in design reviews.
5.    Attends engineering meetings to add input regarding the part design.
6.    Updates design drawings with necessary changes based on the customer and Product Engineer’s feedback.
7.    Creates detailed records of product design projects and manages record retention.
8.    Administers incoming and outgoing CAD data within OEM database and documents all events.
9.    Uploads and releases data files into customer data vault systems.
10.    Promotes continuous improvement in the product development process to increase efficiency.
11.    Uploads and releases data files into PLM for global programs.
12.    Complete drawing updates.
13.    Uploads and releases drawings into PLM ADAC Drawing Library & ADAC Blueprint System.
14.    Review drawings to ensure they meet internal and external requirements, which includes final drawing release authorization.

Education & Experience: 
1.    Minimum of a 2-year Technical Degree focused in design or engineering. Education requirement can be replaced with 8-years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
2.    Completed qualified training courses in 3D CAD design software (e.g., CATIA, NX,)
3.    Minimum of 8-10 years of work experience in product component design.
4.    Experience working in automotive industry is a plus.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1.    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
2.    Working knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes.
3.    Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Principles.
4.    The ability to discuss, problem solve, and promote innovative ideas that will build strong internal confidence in product development.
5.    Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate effective communication and time management skills when interfacing with various functional groups.
6.    Ability to work collaboratively with others
